BARBATUS EAGLE RED 2012 : MERLOT-CABERNET SAUVINGON-SYRAH P.G.I KRETA

It is produced only when it satisfies the oinological team of the Strataridaki Estate and in the way that it believes it is suitable for a large wine. Moreover, the arid vineyard from which its production grape originates was designed for this very purpose: the production of a separate, large wine. It is located at 600m. altitude, i.e. 400m. higher than the average of the rest of the vineyards on the estate, and is planted from the outset to reflect the varietal composition of Barbatus wine.

Due to the very low area yield of this vineyard, which is harvested only when its grape has fully matured, the production of Barbatus is very limited.

To make the tasting game even more interesting, barbatus will be tested in two harvests in 2012 and 2013 and in two respective bottle sizes: 750ml and Magnum.

 

Deep dense purple color with violet highlights.

Nose with strong aromas of red and black fruits with the likes of chocolate and spices.

In the mouth it is filled with round, silky tannins of high level in intensity but also in quality. Long and enjoyable aftertaste.

Mature for 18 months in new French oak barrels. It is combined with meats with sweet elements, such as pork with plums, braised or aubergines glazed with sweet soy sauce. Served at 18-20oC. It must be transfusiond into a carafe before serving.
