GERANIA WINERY

The Wine Cooperative of Megara.

Gerania Winery was founded in 1908 and is the first cooperative established in Greece. In 1922, the first Cooperative Winery was founded in Pachi Megara, where the collection, processing and distribution of all local production was carried out. Very quickly the wines of megara became known not only in Greece but also abroad. From the port of Pachi, wood bars were loaded with bulk wine for the markets of Europe mainly France, England and Germany. The vineyard of Megara extends from the foot of Mount Gerania and rises to an altitude of about 350 meters. The microclimate and geographical area of vineyards contribute to the qualitative configuration and character of local wines. In the 1960s, with the appearance of leaf oil in the vineyards, there were large-scale renovations and replanting. Main varieties prevailing in the area the famous Roditis Megara and the Savvatiano from white and mavroudi.

Today, equipped with the most modern mechanical equipment and staffed with specialized staff, marrying tradition with modern technology, he continues to offer high quality products, while he has participated in international Wine Competitions, receiving significant Distinctions.
